EIT Manufacturing Doctoral School
Thanks to its membership in the EIT Manufacturing consortium, CTU in Prague participates in the EITM Doctoral School. This is a two-year parallel programme in innovation and entrepreneurship that CTU PhD candidates can take alongside their doctoral studies.

The EIT Manufacturing Doctoral School goes beyond traditional PhD training and offers a two-year international education focused on manufacturing innovation and entrepreneurship. The learning experience includes five months of mobility, giving students exposure to both academic and non-academic environments.

Completion of the Doctoral School is recognised with an EIT labelled certificate, which can be a strong career accelerator—even if you aim to join R&D in an established company.

Turn Your Dissertation into a Start-up
If you are a CTU PhD candidate with the drive and ambition to build a venture on your research results and technical expertise, this is a great opportunity. Under the guidance of experienced mentors you will learn the basics of entrepreneurship, promoting your business, communicating with investors, and more. Beyond knowledge, the course is a chance to network with like-minded peers from across Europe.
For CTU Prague students, the programme is FREE of charge.
How It Works
- In year one, the course deepens knowledge of specific manufacturing aspects such as sustainable production, robotics, and manufacturing systems. In parallel, students develop a marketable solution linked to their PhD topic using design-thinking methodologies.
- In year two, the focus shifts further toward entrepreneurship as participants develop their own innovations. Students work on defining and potentially launching an innovative start-up, with possible support from additional EIT Manufacturing initiatives.

The Doctoral School runs annually from April to December and combines on-site and online activities.
Specific dates are published on the EIT Manufacturing Doctoral School.
Details of the content and schedule are available on the Summer School and Winter School.
