RCMT awards and achievements

CZECH 100 BEST 2024
In 2024, RCMT received an award in the 29th edition of the prestigious CZECH 100 BEST competition, in the Engineering and IT category.
We see this success as recognition of our long-term collaboration with industry, our vision, and the quality of our work.
Josef Hlávka Award 2024
Jan Šmaus, Ing., a graduate of the Department of Production Machines and Equipment at the CTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Prague, received the Josef Hlávka Award in 2024, which recognizes the top students and graduates of Prague universities, Brno University of Technology, and young researchers of the Czech Academy of Sciences.


TOP 10 Master’s Theses of 2023 in the Werner von Siemens Award
Ing. Filip Bartoš, a graduate of the Department of Production Machines and Equipment at the CTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Prague, placed 7th among the Top 10 Master’s theses of 2023 in the Werner von Siemens Award with his thesis “Effective Control of CNC Milling Machine Tool when Machining Complex Parts.”
Engineering Academy Award 2022
Innovation of the Year Award 2023
The BUD100 grinding machine, developed jointly by Slovácké strojírny, a.s., Plant 08 – TOS Čelákovice, RCMT at the CTU Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Prague, and ÚVSSR at the BUT Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Brno, received the Czech Engineering Academy’s 2022 award in the category “Outstanding Implemented Technical Project.”
The machine received further recognition for R&D cooperation between research and industry in 2023, winning the main Innovation of the Year 2023 Award presented by the Association of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Czech Republic.


Bronze Medal at INTARG Katowice 2022
Silver Medal at iENA 2023
The international patent application: Method of Surface Layer Removal from the Surface of Geometrically Complex Edges of Cutting Tools using Laser Stripping Method won a bronze medal in the Industry category at the 15th International Invention and Innovation Fair INTARG Katowice 2022 and a silver medal at the international ideas, inventions, and innovations fair iENA 2023.
Gold Medal at MSV 2017
The WeldPrint MCV 5X machine with Hybrid Manufacturing technology, developed by RCMT in cooperation with Kovosvit MAS, won the Gold Medal at the Brno International Engineering Fair (MSV) in 2017 in the category “Innovation demonstrably created through contractual cooperation between companies and research organizations.”


Medal of George of Kunštát and Poděbrady 2015
Ing. Jiří Švéda, Ph.D., was awarded the Medal of George of Kunštát and Poděbrady, King of Bohemia, in 2015 for his personal contributions to the field and to European integration.
The Medal of George of Kunštát and Poděbrady honors prominent Czech and foreign figures for their contributions to the field and to European integration. The medal is awarded by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
Best Cooperation of the Year 2014
Czech Innovation 2014
A motion screw mechanism developed by RCMT in cooperation with KŠK Kuřim won TA CR’s Best Cooperation of the Year 2014 and also took first place in the Czech Innovation 2014 competition in the “Innovative Idea” category.


Gold Medal at MSV 2013
The MCU 1100V – 5X modular, multifunctional five-axis machining center, developed by RCMT and Kovosvit MAS, won the Gold Medal at the Brno International Engineering Fair (MSV) in 2013.
Best Cooperation of the Year 2013
The “Centre of Competence – Manufacturing Engineering Technology” project received TA CR’s Best Cooperation of the Year 2013 award for collaboration between companies and the research sector.


JEC Innovation Award 2013
The results of the international project FibreChain – „Integrated Process Chain for Automated and Flexible Production of Fibre-Reinforced Plastic Products“ in which RCMT and Strojírna TYC participated alongside international partners, were honored in 2013 at the major global composites trade fair JEC AMERICA with the prestigious JEC Innovation Award in the Manufacturing Processes category.
Best Cooperation of the Year 2011
Innovation of the Year Award 2011
In 2011, the “Mechatronic Concept of Horizontal Machines,” developed by RCMT and TOS Varnsdorf, won first place in the Best Cooperation of the Year competition.
In the same year, the mechatronic concept received the main Innovation of the Year 2011 Award, presented by the Association of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Czech Republic.


Gold Medal at MSV 2010
At the Brno International Engineering Fair (MSV) in 2010, Prof. Jaromír Houša received the Gold Medal for his lifetime contribution to Czechoslovak and Czech engineering.
Silver Felber Medal 2020
At a ceremonial session of the CTU Scientific Council on 21 January 2020, the Silver Felber Medal was awarded to Prof. Ing. J. Houša, DrSc.
The Felber Medal is awarded for significant educational and scientific achievements associated with ČVUT in Prague.
Gold Medal at MSV 1984
A prototype of the PR20S welding robot developed at the department won the Gold Medal at the Brno International Engineering Fair (MSV) in 1984.
Subsequently, one unit was produced for welding tram chassis parts at ČKD Tatra Smíchov in Prague, where it operated until tram production was relocated to Zličín.
